How the Conversion Works

Tips for Better Estimates

  • Use the actual time under tension, not the full gym session. Rest periods and setup time should not be included if you want a fair comparison with walking.
  • When in doubt between two intensity options, choose the lower one. Most people overestimate how hard their mobility work is.
  • Your step equivalence assumes a brisk 100 steps per minute. If you walk slowly — around 80 steps per minute — your real step count will differ. Treat the number as a comparison aid, not a step-counter reading.
